I've been exploring sales stats in various bits of Europe. Yesterday we did Ireland, today we're in Sweden.
We've found out that Ireland likes the Golf and doesn't do the Honda Accord, or indeed any other Honda. So, how about the Swedes?
Do they like their VWs?
Do they loathe their Hondas?
Do they love their Chinese Volvos?
The answers to which are:
Yes
Yes
Do bears relieve themselves in an arboreal setting?
A website rather oddly called Bil Sweden (as opposed to the more obvious Bil Sverige) tells us all and so I've ploughed through this på Svenska to save you having to do so (before realising that it talks English too).
Anyways:
In Q1 of 2015 the Swedes could only be persuaded to buy one Toyota GT86, down from 16 in Q1 2014. They also bought one Jag XJ, one Citroen DS3 and one Merc SL. So, who managed to beat these losers?
Well, our Nordic friends bought:
No LR Defenders
No Opel Cascadas
Two Honda Accords
Four Renault Lagunas
Five Chevrolet Corvettes
Five i8s
Six Lada Nivas (!)
Six Chevrolet Tahoes
Seven Fiat Puntos
Twelve Porsche 911s
Twelve Ford Kas (nobody seems to like these!)
29 Jeep Wranglers
243 Citroen C4 cacti
.
.
4,350 VW Golfs (though I prefer Golves)
4,394 Passats
and..
6,504 Volvo V70s.
So there you have it.
We learn that: Swedes don't go for Southern European cars, they don't go much for flash ones like big Jags and Mercs and the days when they bought Yank Tanks are over.
